Hello everyone my name is Marie Brown and I am a mom, wife, daughter, aunt “Tia”, friend, and teacher. I am married to Mr. Damon Brown. Fun fact: He proposed to me at one of our school Movie Nights and it was a blessing to get to share both the proposal and our Wedding day at our school parish. We have celebrated our fifth anniversary and God willing many more to come! My son Eric Brown attends St. Paul High School and is in 9th grade this year :) He is and will always be a blessing in my life. Damon and I give thanks to God for him. Love you Eric*
God has allowed me to teach here at St Gregory the Great for more than 13 years now. My first two years here I taught first grade. Then it was off to sixth grade (self-contained) for three years. The next challenge was changing to a fifth-sixth grade rotation and I did that for three years. God said it was now time for a new challenge, sixth through eighth grade history, which I taught for two years. As my son was entering sixth grade, I then moved over to the fifth grade classroom (year four). I feel blessed to work in this Catholic community and appreciate all of the support you all have shown throughout the years! I am a hard worker and I step-up to any challenge with faith, perseverance, and an open mind. God is too good to me for me to second guess where he wants me!
I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with my Bachelor's of Arts -Liberal Studies Pre-Credential and was fortunate enough to be hired here at St. Greg’s that same year. I then attended Cal State LA, while working full time and raising an infant, to earn my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I remember thinking, “Can I do this?” and before I knew it, I was done! That was truly an accomplishment I am proud of as a teacher, mother, and student.
I am truly blessed to be a part of this community and appreciate the support and love we receive here. I take my role as a Catechist and teacher seriously, so as parents always know that your children are being taught, disciplined, and nurtured in a faith based environment. I challenge and expect the students to do their best, grow in their faith, and respect themselves and others. This is an expectation that I work on as an adult, on a regular basis, and I know the challenges we face in life sometimes make that difficult. What makes us different as Catholics is that we are called to not only speak, but live the Word of God and so I thank you for entrusting me with that opportunity to teach and learn from your children.
God Bless,
Mrs. Marie Brown
